Lucien Pissarro painted Coldwell End. The cottage I stayed in is just out of frame on the left. Pissarro may have sat on a little flag stone bridge to paint this. One of the cottages is now gone, and the trees have grown somewhat. Otherwise, the cottages, and actually the whole village, are pretty much the same as when he walked the cobbles here in 1928. He also painted one called Brookleton, Misty Morning, which is only a few steps from this one. With all this in mind, and the area being popular with other late impressionists, I set off with my camera.
